The University of Florida's College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) is recruiting for the position of Chair and Professor/Associate Professor of Clinical and Health Psychology. The chair will lead with a focus on promoting excellence in education, scholarship, and clinical reach through recruiting, developing, retaining outstanding faculty and staff, deploying resources, and fostering a positive culture. Responsibilities include strategic oversight and collaborative leadership across core departmental functions—academic programs, clinical services, research support, and administrative operations—while empowering program directors and staff, ensuring accreditation and funding continuity, and fostering innovation and growth. The chair reports to the dean and works with college leadership to implement strategic initiatives and partnerships. The appointment is full-time and 12 months. Department Overview
The Department of Clinical and Health Psychology is a national leader in research, training and service provision in Child and Pediatric, Health, and Neuropsychology. Programs include a Ph.D. (APA-accredited since 1953), Internship (APA-accredited since 1967), Postdoctoral Training (APPIC-affiliated since 2020), and Undergraduate teaching. Research areas include pediatric and adult chronic illness management, cognitive aging, neurodegenerative diseases, health equity, stigma, behavioral interventions, and integration of technologies (e.g., neuroimaging, AI, telehealth) to improve diagnosis, treatment, and health outcomes across the lifespan. UF Health Psychology Specialties provides lifespan psychological and neuropsychological assessment and evidence-based therapy, serving as a resource for UF Health’s medical community. The Department is housed in the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP), which includes eight departments and a wide range of degree programs. PHHP emphasizes prevention and is ranked highly in NIH funding among public schools of public health. UF Health Shands Hospital and the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center are nearby partners; additional institutes and centers provide collaboration opportunities. Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of specialization from an accredited institution. Preferred Qualifications
A distinguished record of scholarly achievement, extramural funding, teaching and mentoring, and leadership appropriate to the rank of associate professor or professor. Final title and tenure status are determined at time of hire. Health service psychology licensure or eligibility strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership, the ability to build collaborative teams, and a strong commitment to fostering internal and external collaborations. Excellence in research and training is essential.
