Position Summary
The EHS Specialist/Lead is responsible for managing all environmental, health, and safety programs for our large-scale Manufacturing Company. This role requires a strong background in machine shop, welding, and facility safety, regulatory compliance, and a proactive approach to risk management. The EHS Specialist/Lead will be the primary point of contact for all EHS matters and will be heavily involved in audits, reporting, and training. Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Management:
Maintain and train on comprehensive safety programs tailored to the unique conditions of a Manufacturing environment, including Emergency Action Plan, Fork Truck Safety, Overhead Crane & Sling, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, GHS & Hazard Communications, Hazardous Waste, Hearing Conservation, Handling & Storage of Cryogenic Fluids, Welding Hot Work, Lader, Walking Working Surfaces, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, First Aid, CPR, & AED and etc. Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the facility is in full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, particularly those from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration ( OSHA ) and the Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA ), Department of Environmental Protection
(DEP) Audits and Reporting:
Lead and participate in all internal and external
audits . Prepare and submit all required environmental and safety reports, including meticulous
paperwork
and documentation tailored to Customer requirements, Insurance requirements, and Regulatory agency requirements. Waste Management:
Oversee the facility's Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Waste program. This includes performing
calculations on waste usages , maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and managing proper storage and disposal. Environmental Monitoring:
Work with contract Environmental Engineering Firms as needed to conduct routine monitoring and testing, including quarterly Storm Water sampling, and Periodic Air & Noise Sampling to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and maintain a safe work environment. Training and Certification:
Conduct Company wide and specialized work function Trainings, and track all EHS-related training programs listed above. This includes annual refresher courses and specialized
safety and certification programs . Manage all related paperwork and records. Monitor training validity requirements to ensure no lapse in training. Hoisting and Rigging:
Administer & Maintain the internal Hoisting Machinery In-Service Training Program for Company Licenses, ensuring all operators are properly trained and certified. Qualifications
Education & Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role, and 5+ years of overall experience in a Manufacturing setting. Machine Shop & Welding a plus. Certifications:
Must possess a minimum
OSHA 10 certification Licensing:
An
Engineer's License (3A) for hoisting certifications
is a highly desirable qualification. If not Heald will need to obtain upon start. Skills:
Excellent communication and training skills. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient with data analysis and report writing. Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations, particularly those applicable to Massachusetts. Personality and Attitude:
Collaborative team player, self motivated with a coaching and continuous improvement mentality. Seniority level
