DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the implementation and management of EHS programs, processes, systems, compliance plans, and initiatives.

Lead investigation and response to all division incidents, near misses, and property damage incidents.

Drive corrective actions to completion to minimize future exposure and proper records/documents are maintained.

Coordinate and conduct compliance monitoring activities including storm water sampling, industrial hygiene monitoring, air quality monitoring, and hazardous waste monitoring.

Responsible for review and maintenance of SDS records and approval of new products before products are allowed in the plant

Oversee Emergency Response Team during emergency evacuations and other plant emergencies

Provide EHS solutions, programs, best practices and guidance to functional and operational teams, site operations management to effectively manage compliance assurance and EHS risk mitigation.

Be a resource for employees regarding EHS related concerns, providing guidance and recommendations for safety work practices.

Establish universal EHS training programs that support the operational needs at all employee levels.

Standardize inspection programs focused on eliminating safety, health, and environmental risk.

Develop and maintain EHS data retention procedures across the organization.

Oversee hazardous waste management programs and annual reporting requirements.

Support all external EHS audits and assessments.

Oversee third party EHS reporting requirements – generating reports and documentation as necessary.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLSET

Extensive knowledge of environmental safety regulations and policies

Extensive knowledge of EHS laws and regulations (Cal OSHA, EPA, DTSC, SCAQMD, Waterboard, etc.)

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Proficient in technology and equipment used in safety and environmental inspections.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in safety science, industrial engineering, or industrial hygiene preferred or equivalent experience with specialized training.

Three to five years of related experience preferred.

HAZWOPER, CPR/First Aid training preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Standing/walking for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day) throughout manufacturing facilities during inspections and audits

Ability to climb stairs and ladders to access equipment and work areas

Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 40 pounds (equipment, sampling devices, etc.)

Bending, stooping, and kneeling to collect samples and inspect machinery

Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate testing equipment and safety devices

Ability to wear and tolerate personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods

Visual acuity to detect safety hazards, read gauges, and identify potential issues

Verbal communication skills to effectively convey safety instructions in potentially noisy environments

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS

Exposure to manufacturing noise levels potentially requiring hearing protection

Potential exposure to chemicals, dusts, fumes, and vapors (with appropriate PPE and monitoring)

Exposure to moving machinery and equipment

Exposure to variable lighting conditions from bright outdoor areas to dimly lit confined spaces

Possible work in confined spaces requiring specialized training and equipment

Potential for slips, trips, and falls on wet or uneven surfaces

Exposure to weather conditions when performing outdoor inspections
