Overview

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek research scientists to join the Department of Emergency Medicine. Academic rank and track are commensurate with academic record and experience. Position: Physician and/or Research Scientist - Department of Emergency Medicine, Research Scientist (Open Rank/Track Faculty). Duties and Responsibilities

Faculty responsibilities are consistent with the tripartite mission, with a focus on clinical research. The research-scientist will work collaboratively with individuals within and outside the department to conduct research in emergency care. We expect these efforts to result in publications in peer-reviewed journals. The candidate should pursue and maintain NIH or other equivalent extramural funding. The selected individual will have opportunities to contribute to training, research, and other scholarly pursuits. Other duties include representing the program or Department by participating in committees, conferences, and representing OSU at professional meetings and community speaking engagements. The candidate is expected to perform clinical duties at OSUWMC emergency departments and advanced urgent cares as assigned, and to practice within the Medical Center standards, policies, procedures, and protocols, adhering to key results areas of the Medical Center. Requirements

MD, DO, and/or PhD, or foreign equivalent. Additional graduate level research training (Masters or Doctorate level) or post-doctoral training desirable. Scientific expertise in emergency care or a related field required. Minimum experience: 5 years. Substantial scientific publication record required. National recognition highly desirable. Clinical faculty

(regardless of rank) – Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned an MD, DO, PhD or other terminal degree. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching and/or research. Tenure-Track faculty

(regardless of rank) – Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), MD, or DO. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD, DO or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care. Research Faculty

(regardless of rank) – Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research. About The University and The Wexner Medical Center
