Overview Staff Accountant — Hayes & Associates, LLC is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our growing firm. The position is based in Omaha, Nebraska with flexible partial remote work up to three days per week. This role provides a variety of accounting and auditing functions in support of client objectives within the accounting, tax and/or audit service areas.

Primary Duties

Prepare, organize, and record financial transactions.

Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting services.

Organize and update financial records.

Assist in planning, risk assessment, and preparation of financial statements.

Prepare tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, sole proprietors, and more.

Respond to IRS notices.

Meet with clients to do business consulting and tax planning.

Prepare documentation for external auditors.

Perform review, compilation, preparation, audit, and agreed-upon procedures engagements.

Qualifications

Possess a BS/BA degree in accounting.

Ability to research technical accounting and auditing issues.

Work with team to identify issues and provide timely solutions and consultation for clients.

Demonstrate excellence in communication skills, data gathering, analysis, reporting, and process improvement.

Meet assigned deadlines or budgets and provide advance warning of problems.

Be self-motivated and effectively work independently.

Possess excellent client relationship skills and time management skills.

Be organized with the ability to execute on multiple, concurrent client engagements.

Familiarity with accounting and auditing software including QuickBooks, CCH ProSystem fx Engagement, and PPC is a plus.

Previous accounting experience or experience in nonprofit and governmental accounting is highly desired.

Summary Hayes & Associates, LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field and 0-2 years of experience in public accounting or general accounting. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. CPA certification is a plus. This position will be responsible for providing accounting and auditing support to clients, including tax preparation and financial statement analysis.
