(3–6 month assignment with potential extension)
Our client, a well-established manufacturing company with approximately 200 employees, is seeking an
Interim Controller
to oversee the accounting and finance function during a critical transition period. This role will manage a lean team of three and ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting and operational accounting.
This opening is due to a
major system implementation , and the Interim Controller will play a key role in maintaining stability and ensuring accurate financials while the company transitions to new systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, A/R, A/P, payroll, and inventory accounting Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management Maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets Provide hands-on guidance, mentoring, and support to a three-person accounting team Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, production, and senior leadership to support business objectives Serve as a steadying presence during the system implementation, ensuring smooth operations and accurate reporting
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience in manufacturing strongly preferred Strong understanding of inventory, cost accounting, and manufacturing financial processes Proven ability to manage and mentor a small team in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills, both with financial and non-financial stakeholders Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership style suited for a lean environment Prior ERP/system implementation experience is a strong plus
Compensation
$55 – $70/hour (W2) depending on experience
