Physical Requirements: The physical requirements for this position include regularly sitting, standing, walking, with some pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 10lbs and occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 50lbs.
Shift: Monday – Friday, Day Shift; primarily 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (40 hrs/wk); other hours/schedule as needed
Job Summary
The Genetic Counselor Assistant (GCA) provides specialized support to the genetic counselors. The GCA is an integral part of the Genetics team, contributing to the management of diverse aspects of the service, including the coordination of patient care, optimization of clinic and operational workflows, and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient-centered and administratively effective environment. The GCA has essential roles in assisting the genetics department, including obtaining family histories, triaging referrals, collecting relevant medical records, and collecting previous genetic testing records when appropriate. Additionally, the GCA coordinates care with testing laboratories, manages patient care when multiple physicians or clinical departments are involved, and assists with administrative duties within the department.
