Manages sales activities of the organization by performing the following duties personally or through assigned sales representatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manages Inside Sales and support departments. Completes onboarding and orientation for new office employees. Collaborates with branch leadership to approve purchase order requisitions. Monitors attendance and approves vacation requests for office personnel. Enforces company policies and procedures. Participates in hiring office staff employees. Monitors daily sales activity including quotes and orders. Manages sales order entry and progression. Reviews pricing to ensure alignment with margin and sales goals. Reviews and approves shipment verification documentation. Generates and reviews sales backlog reports twice per month. Identifies new business opportunities and potential customers. Develops new sales strategies and ideas. Gathers market intelligence and pricing data. Maintains an up-to-date customer list for marketing purposes. Establishes and oversees outbound calling programs. Trains new and current Inside Sales and support staff. Ensures adherence to policies related to customer returns and restocking fees. Resolves customer issues including claims, shortages, incorrect or defective material. Leads regular sales meetings. Delivers sales presentations and supports relationship-building with key clients. Assists in deal negotiation and closing. Coordinates communication between sales and related departments. Assigns and manages sales territories. Inventory Functions
Recommends new product opportunities (subject to leadership approval). Assists in annual physical inventory and reconciliation. Identifies and addresses inventory discrepancies. Reduces slow-moving inventory. Manages inventory and transfers using internal systems. Notifies purchasing teams of product quality or supply issues. Initiates and approves inventory transfers between branches. Participates in disposition decisions for rejected or non-conforming materials. Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises Inside Sales and support staff. Responsibilities include: Interviewing, hiring, and training employees Planning, assigning, and directing work Addressing complaints and resolving problems Disciplinary actions and employee development Required Skills and Abilities
Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy Solid mathematical and analytical capabilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Experience & Education
5+ years of experience in sales, with at least 2 years in a leadership role Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred Experience in the metals or manufacturing industry is a plus U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required due to regulatory compliance (ITAR/EAR) Job Details
