Maintains key customers to ensure a continued base of profitable industrial business. Maintains and expands the database of prospects of the organization. Identifies the target lead decision makers in order to initiate sales process. Provides profitable transactional business through solicitation, quoting, email or other tools to grow the business. Estimates, quotes effectively customer projects. Converts opportunities into invoiced sales. Monitors, analyzes and communicates sales data to contribute to production service schedule. Including inventory tracking and replenishment responsibilities. Responds to customer information requests; collaborates with cross-functional departments to ensure a timely and accurate response. Interacts with Outside Sales, Operations, Quality Assurance and Purchasing on a daily basis. Articulates the benefits of products to prospective customers relative to the customer's needs persuasively via the telephone. Learns and masters the company's products and operational procedures. Represents Metals USA in a positive and professional manner at all times. Provides exemplary customer service without compromise. Forges relationships with Outside Sales Representatives, Production Managers and Support staff to ensure quality customer service and customer satisfaction. Cooperates with Outside Sales Representative to determine strategic approaches for sales. Regular and predictable attendance is required for the duties of the Inside Sales Representative; software is company property and cannot be downloaded onto a non-network computer. Maintain customer "inventory/stock out" spreadsheets, monitor customer projections and forecasts, price letters, price central, and usage reports. Monitor Kanban inventory programs, works with inventory and purchasing department to move obsolete, slow turning, and aged inventory. Ability to make pricing decisions in the absence of the Sales Manager, in cooperation with Outside Sales Representatives. Monitors quality and delivery performance to ensure the plant is meeting customer's expectations. General sales duties -- telephone skills, quoting, writing orders, closing skills, inventory knowledge (product mix), equipment capabilities, territory knowledge, handling objections, problems, paper flow, computer, etc. Understanding and application of processes and procedures are critical to meeting the objectives/goals of the facility and Metals USA. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is preferred (not required) Five (5) or more years of experience in B2B selling is preferred (industrial or metals industry preferred) but not required. Ability to work with other departments in a professional and courteous way. Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) to effectively correspond with both internal & external customers Ability to multi-task with effective results Excellent problem solving, time management, and organizational skills required. Must have a professional demeanor and an ability to communicate effectively with all departments to foster a success-oriented, deadline driven organization. Ability to learn new skills and technology as it pertains to business. Good analytical & organizational skills, able to make sound decisions utilizing the data on hand. Computer Literacy; Microsoft Office Products, ERP, CRM (sales). Demonstrate proficiency within six months of hiring in the following areas: Customer competency -- understanding the customer needs, type of business, and product mix needed to service the account. Ability to determine selling price in competitive transactional opportunities. Exceed expectations in accuracy and quality of work. Computer Skills- collect information to service the customer's needs. Basic knowledge of steel and the steel processing industry Exercise a reasonable degree of judgment and possess the ability to recognize appropriate company procedures/policies that apply in specific situations and follow them. Must be able to understand and use safety rules and procedures. Employee must demonstrate competency and complete other required training programs by Metals USA.
