The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center The Department of Marketing, Communications and Digital Strategy is responsible for the overall brand management and communications and marketing activities of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James), and the College of Medicine. This senior marketing consultant position sits within the Growth Marketing and Reputation Strategy Team and is dedicated to fostering engagement with the donor audience relating to the strategic goals of Team Buckeye and Pelotonia, as well as James Development initiatives at the OSUCCC – James. Position Summary The Senior Marketing Consultant is a relationship builder, leveraging marketing expertise to drive impactful donor engagement. The position partners closely with development teams, cancer program leaders and cross-functional colleagues to craft and execute integrated marketing strategies that grow awareness, engagement and philanthropic support for the OSUCCC – James. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring communication and marketing initiatives to support assigned areas. Duties And Responsibilities Responsible for leading the implementation, execution and monitoring of internal and external marketing and communications plans and tactics related to Team Buckeye and Pelotonia and James Development marketing initiatives. Strong organizational and execution abilities to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects at a time. Creates and maintains strong relationships with all partners. Manage and research all aspects of each project, shares information accurately and promptly. Strong writing skills with attention to detail are essential in this role. Design strategic marketing plans to increase awareness, engagement and preference, and grow participation to achieve Team Buckeye and Pelotonia objectives. Manage and execute marketing plans to support James Development Fundraising Events that focus on growing participation, achieving brand preference and fostering long-term engagement Cultivate and sustain robust relationships across cancer program leaders, medical center stakeholders, advancement colleagues, as well as Team Buckeye, Pelotonia, and James Development. Develop compelling project briefs, creative concepts, and key donor messages aligned with both short- and long-term fundraising goals. Provide project management to ensure that tactics are developed and completed accurately and on time, and with attention to detail. Be an Active Brand Champion to ensure consistent and disciplined brand messaging. Manage how the brand is expressed to our audience and protect brand integrity. Maintain a deep understanding of the entire cancer program and its product lines, business plans and development plans. Prepare reports to document the effectiveness of plans/tactics and make recommendations on future activities based on pre-determined evaluation criteria. Collaborate with the digital, video, content and design teams to develop content for earned, owned and paid marketing channels to support the strategic direction of assigned service lines. Build and maintain relationships with health system leaders, administrators, faculty, staff, marketing team members, university faculty and staff, and community leaders. Prepare project budgets and manage expenses. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of professional marketing and communications experience, as well as: excellent verbal, writing and presentation skills; strong problem-solving abilities; superior organizational skills; an ability to manage varied projects and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, adapting quickly to shifting priorities and continuous change.
