Job Summary/Purpose:
The primary role of this position is to assist students by providing career counseling and coaching on career exploration, career planning, job search, preparing for and competing in experiential learning opportunities, preparation for application to clinical programs, professional employment, and graduate and professional school opportunities. This position requires knowledge of career counseling theories and practices, job search coaching, and job market knowledge.

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Essential Functions:
Career Counseling and Job Search Advising – 70%: Provide counseling, coaching, and facilitation of career-related one-on-one appointments, presentations, and workshops. Conduct individual and group/class sessions with students and alumni providing interest and skill assessment, values clarification, career opportunity/trend information, and counseling. Engage students in career exploration early and throughout their academic career. Promote experiential learning opportunities with the goal of transforming the students’ university experience. Help students reflect on their academic career and be able to articulate their experiences to their respective audience. Advise, teach, and prepare students and alumni individually and/or in workshops on resumes, cover letters, applications, job search techniques, interview skills, networking, internet usage, employer research, graduate/professional school research and application, and evaluation of job offers. Career Development Liaison – 20%: Act as a liaison to a designated college and/or campus organization and its students with a focus on the students’ career development and goal formation. Collaborate with academic areas on integrating career education and experiential learning into the curriculum and provide career-related programming to enhance the student experience. Develop and maintain professional relationships with partners across the university to promote student career growth. Group Facilitation – 10%: Provide classroom and non-classroom presentations and workshops regarding the Career Services’ resources, the career development process, and/or job search skills. Present multimedia presentations to small and large groups of students on unique career topics that may require research. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of career development, student development theories, and practices. Counseling – Knowledge, awareness, skills, and experience related to providing individual, multi-person, and group counseling. Knowledge of employer recruiting strategies and policies, human resources, job market trends, and occupational, career, and employment information sources. Strong writing, presentation, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 2 years of experience. Preferred Qualifications:
Strong preference for candidates with a master's degree in counseling or career counseling, or related degree with graduate-level coursework in counseling. At least 1 year of experience in career counseling or related work.
