Oil and Gas Title Attorney
to join our team. This full-time role will help Oliva Gibbs exceed client expectations while living out our Core Values: Unparalleled Client Experience, Passion for Learning, and Culture of Collaboration. We Need Your Drive and Precision Are you a detail-oriented, client-focused attorney with experience working on legal projects covering lands in Texas? Our ideal candidate has subject matter expertise in oil and gas law. Prior hires have included landmen, in-house legal and compliance attorneys, oil and gas finance executives, or counsel at a state regulatory agency. You will collaborate with senior attorneys to provide timely and accurate solutions to our clients. Key Responsibilities
Oil & Gas Title Expertise: Conduct title examinations to determine ownership related to oil and gas properties. Identify and analyze deeds, leases, contracts, and other documents to establish ownership rights. Draft title opinions highlighting defects, liens, or issues impacting ownership or use of property. Conduct due diligence reviews for oil and gas transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. Provide guidance on legal risks, liabilities, and strategies for mitigating legal issues in oil and gas transactions. Contract Negotiation and Drafting: Draft, review, and negotiate leases, joint operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and related contracts to protect client interests and ensure compliance with laws. Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Collaborate with litigation attorneys when legal action is necessary. Team Collaboration: Work with team members to ensure seamless execution of complex legal transactions. Meet quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours. Actively pursue continuous learning opportunities. Support other activities and projects as assigned by business priorities. Position Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license with at least one year of experience drafting title opinions covering lands in Texas. Familiarity with preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships with tract and allocation factors. Exceptional commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Growth mindset with active pursuit of professional development and skill enhancement. Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, analyze, and follow through with attention to detail. What We Bring
