Senior Underwriter - Construction Professional & Pollution Liability
Base pay range: $106,500.00/yr - $186,500.00/yr Nationwide | USA AXA XL provides dedicated expertise to solve risk management challenges for large contractors and delivers unique solutions, significant capacity and diverse construction experience. Our Construction Professional & Pollution Liability team offers Professional & Pollution Legal Liability coverage to North America’s Contractors and Specialty Trade buyers who may also have a global exposure. The construction underwriting team tailors the buyer’s policy to fit each client’s unique needs. Arising from growth, our North America Construction underwriting team is looking to add a Senior Professional & Pollution Liability Underwriter. Using your underwriting expertise, you will tailor high-touch effective solutions for our current and prospective clients, partnering with dedicated industry experts who have extensive construction industry risk management experience. What you’ll be doing
Marketing to producers to secure new and renewal business. Reviewing applications, terms and conditions, financials, and loss history; conducting research to determine risk for each account based on Professional & Pollution Liability Regulations and Guidelines and underwriting authority. Coordinating with internal divisions (Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory, and others) that support our businesses. Determining quote or declination of risk. Calculating rates and premium charges using approved rating models. Developing and modifying policy wording in accordance with delegated underwriting authority when standard forms are not appropriate. Actively cross-selling afforded products and services. Supporting service standards in delivery of professional and pollution liability construction products and services. Effectively mentoring, supervising and motivating underwriters, underwriting assistants and other team members. Leadership and involvement in special projects as assigned by senior management. Some to moderate Commercial Underwriting Experience or in-depth knowledge related to construction managers, general contractors, and trade contractors. In-depth underwriting expertise related to solutions for construction managers, general contractors, trade contractors, environmental contractors, architects and engineers. Ability to work self-directed and as an open-minded team player with a willingness to understand unique circumstances requiring practical solutions. Robust insured and broker interaction with the ability to effectively target current and prospective contacts to promote offered products. Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with internal teams and external brokers in a collaborative environment. Excellent organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced education and/or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, IIA, CRIS) preferred but not required. Willingness to travel up to 25% as necessary. What we offer
