Overview

AXA XL’s Construction Professional & Pollution Liability team provides specialized coverage to North American contractors and specialty trades with global exposure. We are expanding our North America Construction underwriting team and are seeking a Senior Professional & Pollution Liability Underwriter to tailor high-touch solutions for current and prospective clients in collaboration with industry experts who have extensive construction risk management experience. What you’ll be doing

Marketing to producers to secure new and renewal business. Reviewing applications, terms and conditions, financials, and loss history; researching risk factors to determine appropriate coverage under Professional & Pollution Liability Regulations and Guidelines and within delegated underwriting authority. Coordinating with internal divisions (Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory, etc.) to support underwriting decisions. Determining quote or declination of risk. Calculating rates and premium charges using approved rating models. Developing or modifying policy wording when standard forms are not appropriate. Actively cross-selling afforded products and services. Supporting service standards in delivery of professional and pollution liability construction products and services. Mentoring, supervising and motivating underwriters, underwriting assistants and other team members. Leading or participating in special projects as directed by senior management. You will report to the Head of Construction Professional. What you’ll bring

Commercial underwriting experience with knowledge related to construction managers, general contractors, and trade contractors, to contribute to underwriting the full range of Construction Professional accounts. In-depth underwriting expertise for construction managers, general contractors, trade contractors, environmental contractors, architects and engineers. Ability to work self-directed and as part of a team, with strong listening and problem-solving skills for complex issues. Strong insured and broker interaction skills to promote offered products. Excellent written and oral communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external brokers. Excellent organizational, time-management and multi-tasking abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced education or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, IIA, CRIS) preferred but not required. Willingness to travel up to 25% as necessary. What we offer
