Since 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services has helped more than 75,000 young adults in San Francisco with outreach, shelter, housing, education, employment, healthcare, and other services. Today, Larkin Street is the largest provider of housing and services to homeless youth in the Bay Area, serving 1,500 youth annually and operating or partnering to provide more than 500 emergency shelter, transitional, supportive, and subsidy-based housing beds at several sites across San Francisco. This is a full-time, hybrid position with three days per week onsite, and may include evenings or weekends based on events and agency needs. What you’ll do
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Special Events, the Development & Events Associate provides vital logistical and administrative support to Larkin Street’s Development team, with a focus on fundraising events, third-party/community engagement activities, and in-kind donor coordination. This role ensures the seamless execution of signature events such as the Paving the Way Gala and Bay Area CFO of the Year Awards, as well as high-visibility community events and in-kind drives that strengthen Larkin Street’s partnerships. The role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing event execution with donor stewardship and administrative support. This is a full-time position, eligible for full benefits. Responsibilities
Event & Third-Party Support (40%) Provide logistical and administrative support for Larkin Street’s signature events, including RSVPs, guest lists, seating, collateral, and volunteer coordination. Support third-party and community partner events (e.g., Pride Tabling, Aviation Day, Build for Good, Get in Gear) through planning, logistics, and staff/volunteer coordination. Liaise with external partners, ensuring brand alignment and visibility at community events. Coordinate some or all aspects of donor cultivation and board of directors events, including two annual board dinners, semi-annual major donor receptions, etc. Collaborate with the Program team on youth-facing holiday events. Contribute to sponsorship solicitations and in-kind grant writing efforts. Staff events as needed, including evenings and weekends. In-Kind Donations & Corporate Engagement (30%) Manage in-kind donation tracking, acknowledgments, and benefit fulfillment. Cultivate and steward in-kind partners to support events (wine, auction items, basic needs kits, supplies). Coordinate logistics for kit builds and in-kind activations (e.g., Build for Good Pride kits, holiday drives). Maintain accurate records of in-kind donations in Salesforce and prepare regular reports. Coordinate and steward corporate volunteer opportunities in partnership with Programs, ensuring meaningful engagement and smooth logistics. Collaborate with Programs to identify in-kind and volunteer needs and ensure smooth distribution of goods. Development Administration (20%) Provide comprehensive departmental support, including scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, preparing agendas and notes, coordinating team retreats, and helping plan internal engagement activities. Assist with processing payments, contracts, and invoices for vendors and events. Maintain team trackers and shared systems (Salesforce, Classy, Outlook) for consistency and accuracy. Contribute to departmental reporting, meetings, and post-event debriefs. Provide administrative support to the Chief Development Officer as needed. Tracking / Other (10%) Serve as agency representative with sponsors, vendors, board members, and event committees. Steward event sponsors and in-kind donors to strengthen long-term relationships. Support opportunities for deeper donor engagement through events and in-kind experiences. Help train and supervise event-day volunteers and interns. Represent Larkin Street at external meetings and networking opportunities as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Location and schedule
This full-time hybrid position will require working onsite (711 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco) for three days/week, depending on job duties and agency requirements. May also include occasional local travel and occasional evenings or weekends depending on events schedule. Who you are
You are passionate about the Larkin Street Youth Services mission to end youth homelessness. You have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. You hold a valid Driver’s License. You have 1-3 years of experience in events, development, or community engagement. You have a flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings and weekends for events. Experience with Classy, Salesforce, or similar platforms is preferred. You pride yourself on attention to detail, action-orientation, and follow-through. You are eager to take initiative to meet or exceed ambitious fundraising goals. You are a relationship-builder with strong interpersonal skills.
