Responsibilities

Director Design and Construction — Leadership and Operations Provide leadership to a team of 100 team members and over 500 contractors responsible for designing and constructing new residential and commercial gas services and other construction activities, including replacement programs, municipal relocations, rear service relocations, etc. Oversee the annual budget of around $150M in capital projects. Ensure design and construction activities align with safety standards, project timelines, and cost-efficiency goals. Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Safety, Supply Chain, and Technology to improve project outcomes and operational effectiveness. Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement Lead performance improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, personal and pipeline safety, and implement improved processes with data-driven decision making and planning. Drive a culture of continuous improvement through best practices, process optimization, and performance metrics. Mentor and coach team leaders, fostering collaboration and leadership development within the department. Project and Resource Management Forecast, plan and manage a budget of ~$150M per year, allocate resources, and manage timelines to ensure efficient delivery of projects. Monitor progress on ongoing projects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Identify and mitigate project risks through effective planning and resource management. Stakeholder Engagement and Regulatory Compliance Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including developers, contractors, local and state authorities, and regulatory agencies. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations governing gas distribution design, construction, and safety. Represent the company in industry forums, regulatory meetings, and with external partners to promote transparency and collaboration. Lead the Alliance Contractor Business Partner relationships. Operational Excellence and Performance Monitoring Oversee the management operating system and opportunity resolution program to ensure continued performance improvement while delivering for customers; track KPIs related to safety, cost, productivity, efficiency and project timelines. Implement and monitor systems that ensure the reliability and performance of gas distribution systems. Drive innovation in construction techniques, materials, and technology to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Oversee quality control systems as they relate to construction activities. Team Composition Senior leaders in Safety, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain departments. Collaboration with Finance, Regulatory Affairs, and Technology teams. Contractors, developers, vendors, local/state regulatory authorities, and industry associations. Qualifications

What you need to succeed Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field. 10 years of experience in gas distribution system design and construction or a similar field. Demonstrated experience in managing teams and complex construction projects. Minimum of 5 years in management roles overseeing engineering, design, construction, or similar functions. Strong understanding of gas distribution systems, pipeline operations, and construction best practices. Proficiency in managing large-scale construction projects with a focus on safety, quality, and cost control. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills. Familiarity with regulatory compliance, industry standards, and technological advancements in the gas utility sector. Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management. What will give you a competitive edge? Master’s degree in Business or related field. Professional Engineer's License 15 years of progressive experience in gas distribution or utility operations, with experience in project management, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement methodologies. Working Conditions

Office-based with frequent visits to project sites and gas distribution system locations. No special physical requirements, though field visits may involve exposure to typical construction site conditions. Emergency Response Requirements

TECO Energy and its companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to TECO Energy customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
