Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Senior Process Engineer
to join a growing renewable fuels operation. This individual will play a key role in monitoring production units, providing technical expertise, and leading improvements in efficiency, safety, and throughput. The role combines hands-on process optimization with strategic project involvement, offering the opportunity to directly influence plant operations and long-term performance. What You’ll Do
Provide senior-level technical support across plant operations, troubleshooting process issues and driving sustainable solutions. Review and refine engineering design packages, including heat & material balances, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs. Lead the development and execution of capital projects, including scope definition, design oversight, and cost-benefit analysis. Optimize existing processes to enhance safety, reliability, product quality, and operating efficiency. Conduct studies on operating variables to improve yields, margins, and overall profitability. Prepare detailed process specifications for new projects, problem solving, and plant optimization. Actively contribute to process safety programs, including MOC, PHA, PSSR, and related activities—leading when required. Partner closely with operations and maintenance teams to resolve technical challenges and support production reliability. Recommend and justify capital investments to support long-term growth and plant improvements. What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required. 7–10 years of relevant experience in refining, renewable fuels, or related process industries. Strong background in hydrotreating and/or reforming operations preferred. Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing HMBs, PFDs, and P&IDs. Working knowledge of industry standards (ANSI, ASME, API). Experience with pump hydraulics, line sizing, control valve and relief valve design. Skilled in specifying and evaluating equipment such as pumps, vessels, and heat exchangers. Familiarity with Process Safety Management systems; 5+ years of experience preferred. Solid foundation in process engineering fundamentals, including fluid dynamics and heat transfer. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; experience with CAD is a plus. Seniority level
