You are passionate about technical service of electric vehicles. You are a hands-on technician at heart that can represent the technician at the early stage of vehicle development. As a player/coach, you enjoy translating the idea of "ease of servicing" into engineering design requirements, working with engineers to help them along the way. You are also passionate about a startup and building the foundational tools and processes that enable excellent technical service and a lower cost of ownership. Manager, Service Engineering

is responsible for ensuring the electric vehicle we design and develop is serviceable by independent service shop technicians and DIYers (where practicable). This includes leading development of the service bill of material, service procedures, and technical support content and processes for service technicians. You will ensure the vision of a vehicle design that is widely considered “serviceable” with minimal special tools and simple procedures. Working closely with the design and packaging teams, you will represent the service technicians from the earliest stages of vehicle design, proactively influencing the vehicle design. Key collaborators include program leadership, vehicle integration team, and design and release engineers. What you bring to the Team Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience. Knowledge of hands on technical automotive service roles and leadership Technical writing and documentation experience Shown experience with developing service-BOM and Service Procedures is helpful Ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail. Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment containing many uncertainties, and adept at working from a clean sheet without legacy constraints or pre-defined process. Ability to lead fast-paced projects from inception to deployment, providing structure and milestone monitoring for all collaborators (who are likely to be from different cultures and in different time zones).
