Manufacturing Engineer - Aircraft Integration (2nd Shift)

Duties and Responsibilities
Devises new approaches to resolve unusual or highly complex manufacturing problems through early, upfront design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure producibility, inspectability, testability, maintainability and repairability.
Responsible for manufacturing process development, implementation, and continuous improvement to enhance Quality/Yield, reduce Cost, and improve Productivity/Schedule. Initiate and lead lean manufacturing process improvement projects.
Specify and implement equipment and processes.
Support manufacturing production planning and coordination, execution and operations process development.
Function spans from the early design development process, through pre-production pathfinder and validation test articles leading to stable production; influence product and process specifications to achieve the best quality, cost and cycle time.
Troubleshoot conflicting design development vs. production requirements, promote new methods/process equipment, and evaluate special material requirements.
Oversee prototype and pilot builds, document the build process with standardized work instructions, define and implement new manufacturing technologies.
Provide documentation and make technical presentations as required.
May represent the organization as the prime technical contact on major new programs, moderate block-change upgrade contracts or single-purpose mission projects.
Provide input to design and technical staff; brief management and participate in a team of moderately experienced professionals.
Develop manufacturing processes, procedures and tooling using technical experience and collaboration with the team to improve quality, eliminate non-value-added steps and shorten lead times.
Apply Lean Manufacturing methodologies for waste reduction (5S, Standard Work, TAKT, Pull System, Value Stream Mapping, cell design, manufacturing flow).
Collaborate with Design Engineering during prototype, development and first article manufacturing.
Support disposition of non-conforming product, identify root causes, and assist in corrective/preventive actions.
Review and approve engineering design changes and ensure manufacturability.
Obtain and analyze manufacturing and test data; develop and maintain work instructions to guide technicians.
Liaison work orders as required to reflect process changes, non-conformity dispositions and engineering changes.
Observe all laws, regulations and applicable obligations; work in a safe manner in accordance with established procedures.
Job Qualifications
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline with four+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or two+ years with a master’s degree; substituteable with equivalent engineering experience.
Strong understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; broad application and evolving knowledge in related technical specialties.
Ability to develop and communicate new concepts, organize and coordinate work phases, and provide solutions to complex problems.
Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact.
Air Worthiness experience is desirable.
Able to work extended hours and travel as required.
Ability to obtain and maintain secret DoD clearance is required.
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary range: 81,080 - 141,650
