The SPE is directly responsible for Construction, Engineering, and Inspection services on their projects, upholding contract documents, ensuring team continuity, and managing client expectations. They independently develop and evaluate project challenges with a solution-focused approach aligned with the client’s goals. Responsibilities include client engagement & relationships, proposal development, sales, utilization, profitability, and leading and mentoring a team of professionals. Job Type Full-time Description Senior Project Engineer (SPE) is a licensed engineer responsible for managing large complex projects or a portfolio of transportation projects. The SPE is directly responsible for Construction, Engineering, and Inspection services on their projects, upholding contract documents, ensuring team continuity, and managing client expectations. They independently develop and evaluate project challenges with a solution-focused approach aligned with the client’s goals. Responsibilities include client engagement & relationships, proposal development, sales, utilization, profitability, and leading and mentoring a team of professionals. Responsibilities Serve as the Owner’s representative on the project, faithfully representing the Owner’s interests, with emphasis on public safety, quality, timely completion, financial responsibility, and exceeding client expectations. Exercise independent professional judgment and decision-making. Prioritize public safety throughout the project. Develop solutions to project issues proactively and expediently. Track contract time and budget, schedule the team accordingly. Review team performance focusing on quality and promoting ETM brand. Communicate professionally with the client regarding significant activities, decisions, and reports. Perform CPM schedule reviews for baseline and updates, identifying logical errors. Manage all Change Orders, Work Orders, Supplemental Agreements, and payments to contractors. Maintain technical knowledge of contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, and compliance requirements. Lead project meetings with clients, contractors, utility agencies, and other stakeholders. ETM Model and promote the ETM way. Conform to company procedures. Manage assigned projects. Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture. Assist with problem solving and risk mitigation. Provide mentorship and professional development. Manage contract time and budget, optimize efficiency. Develop team goals and review performance. Adjust staffing and performance as needed. Identify key hires and establish quality control measures. Manage and grow future work opportunities. Pre-market projects and develop client relationships. Develop scopes, budgets, schedules, proposals. Represent ETM externally to clients and agencies. Seek industry recognition and participate in organizational involvement. Stay informed on industry trends and regulations. Build relationships with key decision-makers and partners. Identify technology opportunities to enhance processes. Key Metrics Team utilization: 85% Individual utilization: 75% Profit: 12% NSR: $2,000,000/year Sales: $2,000,000/year Team size: >10 Zero at-fault accidents Monthly driving score 85+ Develop expertise in 4+ construction areas Maintain company equipment and vehicle cleanliness Minimum Requirements PE license in Florida or ability to obtain within six months of NTP. BS in Civil Engineering. Six years of engineering experience, with two in relevant transportation projects. Exception: Five years for CC2 and PTS bridge structures. Master’s degree may substitute one year of experience. Valid and safe driver’s license. Certifications Required FDOT Advanced MOT CTQP Quality Control Manager (pass exam) Desired CTQP Level II (various areas) Final Estimates Level I & II ICS 100, 200, 700 Physical Demands Regular talking, listening, standing, walking, using hands, sitting or standing for prolonged periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and environmental conditions both indoors and outdoors.
