Job Summary The Senior Field Service Engineer – RUPS Systems will specialize in rotary UPS power system distribution builds, mechanical and generator integration, system integration, start-ups, and preventative maintenance programs. This role requires advanced technical expertise, mechanical aptitude, leadership skills, and hands-on field experience with both electrical control systems and rotating equipment such as generators and flywheels. Strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to delivering high-performance power solutions in data centers, hospitals, industrial facilities, and utility-scale environments are essential. Key Responsibilities

Lead and perform on-site startup, commissioning, and preventative maintenance of RUPS systems, including generator integration, flywheel validation, and facility electrical infrastructure. Perform functional testing, load bank testing, system synchronization, and complete system validation to ensure all components meet performance specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues related to generators, flywheels, switchgear, control systems, fuel systems, and coupling assemblies. Follows a scientific step-by-step process to troubleshoot equipment issues. Captures data and troubleshooting steps concisely and accurately to facilitate effective communication to internal and external parties. Works directly with 3rd party equipment vendors and customers to help resolve re-occurring issues with vendor equipment within IEM’s integrated RUPS systems. Perform functional tests, load tests, synchronization, and RUPS system validation. Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues related to generators, flywheels, switchgear and related control systems. Interface with clients, contractors and internal IEM teams during commissioning and acceptance testing. Ensure all startup and commissioning documentation, test reports, onsite daily reports and required customer records are completed, submitted accurately and on time. Provide technical support and guidance during new installations and system upgrades. Train Field Service junior technicians on proper startup, commissioning procedures, troubleshooting protocols, preventative maintenance and how to operate the equipment safely. Maintain compliance with all industry and company safety standards, company procedures and client specific safety protocols. Communicate with Product Engineering and Design Teams with regards to important product bulletins that would affect service, software upgrades, product upgrades or maintenance factors. Travel to customer sites to lead commissioning activities with junior techs/engineers or complete commissioning independently. As required, travel to the manufacturing or field service offices of IEM to participate in or lead training exercises, and to participate in factory witness/shop testing. Assists with project start-up and resolving punch list items found at the jobsite. Work with the customer site superintendents or project managers to update punch lists and ensure jobs are closed out correctly. Provide detailed field trip reports that list the issues found onsite to the IEM manufacturing facilities regarding whether quality control standards are upheld to project design criteria and product specifications. Works with production, service and engineering teams to help resolve any deficiencies that are found. Work with the Field Service Leads in scheduling additional field resources and/or teams to cover service needs. Proven ability to manage complex power distribution projects, obtains great technical aptitude and has good communication skills. Performs other duties as required by supervisor. Power System Integration

Lead and support field integration of new RUPS and generator technologies with existing infrastructure, ensuring system compatibility and optimal performance. System Optimization

Analyze system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability and scalability of existing power systems on customer sites. Technical Skills

Proficiency in Power/automation programming languages and ladder logic (IEC, Python, Java, SQL, HTML) Strong hands-on experience with rotating equipment, diesel generator systems, and mechanical diagnostics. Experience with electrical troubleshooting, including relay testing, load bank setup, and flywheel system commissioning. Experience with load bank testing, grounding systems and protective relay testing. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams. Proficiency with diagnostic and testing tools - (oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, etc.) Experience and proficient with industrial power system controls and monitoring technologies. Communication Protocols-(Modbus/TCP, OPC, DNP3, ARP, IoT, DHCP, HTTP and IP) Familiar and Experience with the TCP/IP suite Experience with the utilization of Loop2k and Modscan Ability to analyze and interpret engineering documents, codes, standards and technical procedures Experience with RUPS power system controls engineering, including ATO programming in PLC’s, Protective Relays and HMI’s Strong technical ability related to verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex power systems with field service personnel remotely or in person to resolve technical issues on a customer site. Basic Qualifications

BSEE or MSEE Minimum 4 years of field experience working with RUPS-UPS power systems, rotary systems, or generator-based power systems. Prior experience in commissioning engineering, power systems integration, or generator field service strongly preferred. 4 years’ experience as an electrical engineer Professional Engineer (PE) License a Plus Proficient in Microsoft Office applications A strong desire to grow and develop with a passion for providing excellent customer service OSHA 10/30 certification NFPA 70E certification Supervision Of Personnel
