Overview
Building Engineer - Minneapolis, MN at Cushman & Wakefield Responsible to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems for the assigned property(s). Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe working environment, performing rounds, conducting routine assessments, performing day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance, painting, and housekeeping for assigned properties. Perform all plumbing, electrical, or HVAC requirements of the building(s). Maintain heating equipment, chillers (air and/or water cooled), DX units, pumps, cooling towers, fan coil units, VAV, and air distribution systems. Monitor and adjust mechanical/pneumatic equipment, steam stations, control gauges, distributor panels, valves, thermostats, diffusers, and other equipment to provide a comfortable environment. Verify field conditions and perform necessary repairs or adjustments. Monitor Energy Management. Repair doors, ceilings, hand rails, floors and other general repairs, adjustments and installations. Perform repairs to plumbing fixtures (water closets, urinals, flush valve assemblies, lavatories, etc.). Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with Cushman & Wakefield standards, including changing filters, cleaning coils, flushing condensers, inspecting belts and bearings, monitoring chemical treatments, maintaining cooling towers, and other scheduled routines. Inspect engine room equipment, fire pump(s), sump pumps, electrical rooms, back-up generators, and ensure rooms are clean and unobstructed. Check emergency exit signs and lights and ensure access to emergency stairs and exits; perform fire and life safety inspections as required. Document and report activities to supervisor; respond to emergencies and customer concerns promptly. Comply with applicable codes, regulations and safety directives; complete required safety training. Maintain a neat and clean appearance and comply with uniform dress code when on the property. Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; apprentice program or trade school preferred. 5+ years of related experience operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting. Licenses/permits as required (e.g., Journeyman or Master Electrician, Refrigeration Certificate of Fitness, High Pressure Boiler License, etc.). May require Universal Technician certification for CFCs depending on market licensure. Valid driver’s license with good driving record where applicable. Basic computing skills (Outlook, Excel, Word). Experience with HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems, and energy management systems; thorough knowledge of building systems operation, maintenance and repair. Work Environment & Physical Demands
Regular travel between properties; standard office equipment usage; may require extended shifts or on-call duties for priority/emergency responses. Must be able to stoop, stand, climb; frequently lift up to 50 lbs; climb ladders and install rigging as needed. Ability to move between departments, floors and properties; able to read and understand information; good communication skills. Other Information
