The Mechanical Field Service Lead serves as the senior field mechanic responsible for overseeing the mechanical installation, startup, and commissioning of Stellar Energy's Modular Central Utility Plants (MCUPs) at customer sites. This role directs a team of two Field Technicians and acts as the primary mechanical authority on-site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations. Requires hands-on mechanical expertise, field operations leadership, and familiarity with digital instrumentation and smart mechanical systems. Essential Functions
Lead the contractor in all mechanical installation activities at customer locations, serving as the senior site mechanic. Coordinate and supervise the work of two Field Technicians, ensuring installation and commissioning tasks meet a high standard. Interpret and execute mechanical and piping drawings, installation plans, and P&IDs provided by Engineering. Oversee preparation and alignment of pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, valves, piping systems, and related equipment. Lead startup and commissioning procedures for mechanical systems, including hydrostatic testing, flushing, leak testing, and equipment verification. Interface with internal Engineering, Project Management, and Controls teams to resolve technical or equipment-related issues in the field. Perform functional tests and assist with integration of digital instrumentation, sensors, and mechanical control systems. Ensure compliance with applicable mechanical codes, safety regulations, and Stellar Energy standards. Maintain detailed field documentation including redlines, daily work reports, punch lists, and commissioning logs. Mentor and train field technicians on mechanical best practices, safety procedures, and project expectations. Interface with internal Engineering, Project Management, and Controls teams to resolve technical issues in the field. Maintain detailed field documentation, including redlines, daily work reports, punch lists, and commissioning logs. Ensure compliance with all applicable electrical codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E), safety regulations, and Stellar Energy policies. Train and mentor field staff in proper electrical practices, safety protocols, and equipment-specific procedures. Expert knowledge of mechanical systems including chilled water, HVAC, piping, pumps, and valves. Hands-on experience with installation, alignment, and startup of industrial mechanical systems. Strong understanding of P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and installation standards. Leadership and team coordination skills, with a focus on safety and efficiency. Familiarity with digital instrumentation and mechanical sensors. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve field mechanical issues under pressure. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Digital fluency with field data collection tools, commissioning software, and mobile platforms. Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive job site. Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have direct report supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment
This is a field assignment, on-site at assigned location. Fast-paced, time-sensitive, construction environment with safety and quality requirements. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, extreme weather conditions, and loud noise. Work may be performed inside and outside with uncontrolled weather conditions. Physical Demands

Includes talking, listening, standing, walking, using hands, reaching, climbing or balancing, kneeling, crouching or crawling. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours depend on site/project requirements and may include overtime and occasional weekend work. Travel
The role is at the project site; 100% travel is required. Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED. 8+ years of experience in mechanical installation or field service in industrial or commercial environments. 3+ years in a supervisory or senior field mechanical role. Hands-on experience with mechanical system startup and commissioning. Knowledge of mechanical codes and safety standards (OSHA, ASME, ANSI, etc.). Knowledge of quality systems, process control, and tool control. Preferred Education and Experience
Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Technology, HVAC, or related field. Experience with modular energy systems, packaged utility plants, or central utility systems. Certifications in rigging, equipment alignment, or mechanical commissioning. Familiarity with IIoT-enabled mechanical systems or smart mechanical infrastructure. OSHA 30 and first aid/CPR certifications. Work Authorization
Must be qualified to work in the United States. Must hold a current US Passport or have ability to obtain. Other Duties
