Overview

At Swift Engineering, an Assembly Technician will be working closely with engineer(s), program manager(s) and other mfg. team members to assemble composite and metallic products and vehicles for Swift. FLSA Status : Non-Exempt (hourly) $24.00 to $31.00 Reports to : Manufacturing Manager Requirements Responsibilities

Assemble composite and metallic products and vehicles for Swift. Collaborate with engineers, program managers and other manufacturing team members. Follow work instructions and procedures to support quality and productivity. Operate equipment and tools as described in the job information, including vacuum pumps, heat sources, special hand tools, ladders, stands and hi-reach lifts. Work with aerospace fasteners, adhesives, resins, prepregs and related bonding and curing processes, including bond prepping, adhesive mixing, dry fitting, liquid-shimming, wet-bonding with fasteners and/or Cleco clamps, and oven curing. Prepare surfaces, perform trimming, drilling and measurements using precision devices, and perform body work on irregular surfaces (filler materials, scuff sanding, primer and touch up paint as required). Maintain teamwork and effective communication to support a safe and efficient production environment. Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED. Experience using various hand tools associated with aerospace assembly work. Experience with drilling techniques (free-hand and drill fixture). Experience with trimming techniques (free-hand and routing fixtures). Experience with precision measurement devices (calipers, gauges, indicators, micrometers, etc.). Experience with aerospace fasteners, including hole sizing, torque application and verification of installation. Experience with aerospace adhesives and resins, including bond prepping, adhesive mixing, dry fitting, liquid-shimming, wet-bonding with fasteners and Clecos, adhesive application. Knowledge of advanced composite materials (prepreg epoxy resins with carbon, fiberglass and aramid) processed to aerospace specifications. Knowledge of adhesives, sealers, resins, bonding jigs, trim & drill fixtures, and oven curing. Experience doing body work on irregular surfaces and applying related finishing steps. Ability to read and interpret work instructions, specifications, sketches, job travelers, planning documents and engineering drawings; operate under standard supervision and follow procedures to meet work requirements. Strong mechanical aptitude and clear communication; ability to work collaboratively in a team. Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Equipment Operated : Vacuum pumps, heat sources, special hand tools, ladders, stands, mechanical stands, hi-reach lifts. Work Location : Open shop environment, occasionally in warehouse. Protective Equipment Required : Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses, respirators, breathing equipment. Potential Hazards : Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, airborne substances, materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets, working on unprotected heights or around moving machinery.
