Virginia Transformer is the largest U.S.-based power transformer manufacturer, serving a wide range of industries including utilities, renewable energy, oil & gas, and heavy industrial sectors. We design and build custom transformers for mission-critical applications with an emphasis on engineering excellence, customer satisfaction, and operational reliability. Position Summary
The Inside Sales Engineer Manager leads and mentors a team of Inside Sales Engineers responsible for proposal generation, customer communication, and technical sales support. This role ensures high-quality, timely quotes and technical documentation, drives continuous process improvement, and aligns with strategic sales initiatives across North America and internationally. Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Inside Sales Engineers Monitor performance metrics, establish KPIs, and support career development goals Allocate workload effectively and ensure timely proposal delivery Oversee the preparation of technically accurate and competitive proposals Review and approve quotations to ensure alignment with customer specs and margin targets Serve as a liaison between Sales, Engineering, and Operations to address technical and commercial issues Streamline proposal tools, templates, and workflows to reduce turnaround time and improve accuracy Implement training programs and cross-functional collaboration processes Support CRM and sales data analytics to enhance pipeline management and forecasting Support key customer meetings and discussions alongside the sales team Resolve escalated issues promptly and professionally Drive a culture of customer responsiveness and excellence Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or related technical field (required) 7+ years of experience in technical sales or sales engineering, preferably within the transformer, electrical equipment, or heavy industrial sectors 3+ years of experience managing or mentoring a sales or technical team Strong understanding of transformer specifications, bid processes, and customer applications Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and proposal generation tools Exceptional communication, organizational, and decision-making skills Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in business or engineering Experience with utility or EPC customer segments Familiarity with pricing strategies, market analysis, and margin management Why Join Us
