BCA In-Service Safety Organization (Boeing Commercial Airplanes) is looking for a System Safety Engineer to join their team in Everett, WA. The team is hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-level and Senior Level System Safety Engineers. The role focuses on evaluating the safety of our products during operation in service and contributing to ensuring product safety for BCA. Responsibilities include independently leading teams to evaluate potential safety issues, making recommendations for product safety decisions, and coordinating with program leadership to render informed safety decisions that preserve in-service safety of the commercial fleet. Position Responsibilities
Lead the functional engineering organizations through the Continued Operational Safety process for events reported through 14 CFR 21.3 Coordinate with Boeing functional groups, management, suppliers, and airlines to align on safety issue status and resolution Define hazards and perform risk analysis using Boeing and FAA methodologies to determine corrective action timelines Coordinate with Boeing groups to ensure solutions mitigate fleet safety concerns Lead Safety Lessons Learned investigations to address systemic root causes and identify corrective actions Coordinate with the FAA to support informed safety decisions through the safety process Partner with Enterprise Safety and Safety Management Systems to improve processes and tools Act as a champion for product safety initiatives, objectives, and milestones We value the ability to communicate complex technical issues to diverse audiences and to lead multi-discipline teams. Mid-Level qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively with a multi-discipline team Intrinsic initiative, willingness to lead cross-functional projects Ability to own work activities to ensure accurate, efficient, timely completion Senior qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with Boeing senior management and external customers Ability to lead and mentor a multi-discipline team Intrinsic initiative, leadership of cross-functional teams and complex projects Ownership of work activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness Basic Qualifications (Required) Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry 1+ years related work experience or equivalent Preferred Qualifications (Desired) Senior: 5+ years related experience Root Cause Corrective Action tools and/or Boeing Problem Solving Model experience Experience with commercial airplane operation, certification, safety procedures Knowledge of Continued Operational Safety reporting processes per 14 CFR 21.3 Experience working with FAA or other regulatory agencies Experience in Commercial Airplane-Systems design/analysis or Systems Integration Experience with hazard analyses, FMEA, Airplane Level Threats, and Fault Trees Experience with System Safety Risk Assessments, FTA, FHA, SAR Pilots license and/or A&P license (if applicable) Work Location and Schedule This position is expected to be 100% onsite at Everett, WA.
