Responsibilities:
Design tools and test equipment used with complex electromechanical systems. Design processes for manufacturing and/or repair of electromechanical systems. Create and maintain mechanical drawings in SOLIDWORKS. Provide technical support for technicians working in the areas of testing and repair of electrical and mechanical units. Lead outsourcing of specialized mechanical parts and services. Be actively involved with the fabrication and assembly of tools and test equipment. Technical Skills & Knowledge:
CAD Software Proficiency: Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, NX, or Creo for designing and modifying parts. 3D Scanning & Modeling: Knowledge of reverse engineering tools such as 3D scanners (Faro, Creaform, Artec) and software like Geomagic or MeshLab. GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing): Understanding tolerances and fits to replicate parts accurately. Material Science & Metallurgy: Familiarity with metals, plastics, and composites to select appropriate materials for reverse engineering. Manufacturing Processes: Understanding CNC machining, milling, turning, grinding, and additive manufacturing (3D printing). CAM Software: Experience with MasterCAM, Fusion 360, or GibbsCAM to generate machining programs. Metrology & Inspection: Using CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), calipers, micrometers, and laser trackers for precision measurements. Fluid dynamics and Heat Transfer: Knowledge of the fluid mechanics and heat transfer principles on thermal dissipation of power electronics. Hands-on Experience:
Machining & Fabrication: Practical experience operating CNC machines, manual lathes, and mills to manufacture and verify parts. Welding & Assembly Knowledge: Understanding welding, joining, and assembly techniques in manufacturing. Failure Analysis & Testing: Conducting mechanical testing (fatigue, stress, thermal, etc.) for part validation. Experience as a tool and die maker.
