The Opportunity
In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Function as a quality control/quality assurance engineer within the substation quality management group (QMG). Perform QA/QC of substation design packages, including physical design, protective relaying/control with an emphasis on continuous improvement. Collaborate with the substation design team.

Areas of Work
Black & Veatch provides complete engineering, procurement, and construction services in the following areas: Substations Overhead Transmission Lines Underground Transmission Lines Renewables Integration HVDC/FACTs
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program. Minimum of 5 years related work experience. Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search) as applicable by law.
Preferred Qualifications
Substation Design – Physical and/or P&C Quality Assurance and Quality Control of Substation Design projects Professional Engineering (PE) License Attention to Detail Problem Solving Skills Analytical Skills Training Engineers/Technicians Written Communications Drive For Results Planning, Delegation, and Leadership Abilities Conflict Management, Informing, Listening Ability to deal with ambiguity and build effective teams Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable standards
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Standards: Stay current with departmental design guides, standards, codes, and BV policies. Quality/Continuous Improvement: Apply BV quality program, conduct internal QA/QC reviews, and support continuous improvement efforts. Project Coordination: Coordinate with internal/external team members on moderately complex projects; manage work assignments and participate in planning meetings. Client Focus: Identify client interests and drivers, communicate them to the team, and support business development on less complex projects. Knowledge Sharing, Innovation, and Technology: May be recognized as a technical specialist. People Management: May assist with performance management, mentoring, and feedback for engineers and direct reports.
Certifications and Work Environment
Most positions require professional registration or licensure, or active pursuit thereof. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after 90 days, at manager discretion.
