The Opportunity In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Function as a

technical lead substation design engineer . Substation design encompasses distribution, sub-transmission and transmission level voltage classes

Develop electrical design deliverables, including protection and control design ( protective relays ) and/or physical design

Actively participate in management, project scheduling, and work/resource planning meetings

Interface directly with clients, vendors and subcontractors

QA/QC projects and mentor junior engineers

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program

Minimum of 5 years related work experience

All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements which may include: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

Substation Design experience – Physical and Protection & Controls (P&C)

Project Lead experience – Leading teams as technical leader/ SME and mentor; client coordination

Quality Assurance and Quality Control of substation design projects (QA/QC)

Professional Engineering (PE) License

Strong written communications and ability to drive results

Planning, delegation, and conflict management skills

Ability to work with ambiguity and build effective teams

Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Standards:

Learn, stay current, and apply knowledge of departmental design guides, standards, systems, codes, and BV policies and procedures relevant to assigned tasks

Quality/Continuous Improvement:

Apply BV quality program to assigned tasks; provide guidance to others on the project and discipline; support continuous improvement efforts

Engineering Production:

Prepare complex engineering deliverables; perform complex analyses; manage budget, schedule, and quality; evaluate techniques and criteria; review work of others; may oversee data management and lead smaller production teams

Project Coordination:

Coordinate with internal/external team members on moderately complex projects

Client Focus:

Identify client interests and drivers on less complex projects; communicate these to the project team and support business development as needed

Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology:

Recognized as a technical specialist; design complete projects within assigned practice areas

People Management:

Assist with performance management, mentoring, and career development

Work Environment/Physical Needs:

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
