Maintain the current BMC Discovery infrastructure (primarily Linux-based). Lead development of new solutions for internal needs across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud topologies. Partner with developers to design, build, implement, and support technology services to ensure operational criteria (availability, capacity, performance, monitoring, self-healing, deployment automation). Lead the DevOps transformation, advocate for standards, and support delivery across development, quality, release, and product teams. Align product and customer priorities with operational needs; provide feedback to development partners to improve customer experience. All About You (Core Qualifications)
Provides technical leadership and support to a distributed team managing globally distributed infrastructure. Configure, deploy, and administer Linux-based systems across multiple environments. Administer the BMC Discovery software for configuration management and inventory collection. Troubleshoot network connectivity and credential issues (SSH, WMI/Powershell, SNMP, API connections to cloud providers). Discuss, plan, and manage change implementations for upgrades, releases, migrations, and maintenance. Monitor and respond to system alerts and failures. Develop plans to improve quality for each project impacting the platform; ensure procedures follow best practices and are well documented. Mentor junior staff and promote best practices in Business Operations. Engage in the full lifecycle of services from design to deployment, operation, and refinement. Scale systems through automation; drive reliability and velocity improvements. Practice blameless postmortems and sustainable incident response. Collaborate across technology stacks to optimize mean time to recover. Qualifications
BS degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience (4+ years). Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and effective communication. Experience with automation and issues across development, operations, and product teams. Security-first and customer-first mentality. Extensive experience with Linux (CentOS, RHEL, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu). BMC Discovery administration experience is preferred. Experience with ITSM tools (Remedy, ServiceNow) and CMDB concepts. Experience with CI/CD and deployment/configuration tools (Chef, Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet, etc.). Scripting experience (Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell). Understanding of Windows Server and domain concepts; network and security basics; SSL/TLS understanding. Experience with monitoring solutions (Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Nagios, Zabbix, etc.). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and remote server diagnostics. Experience with Agile methodologies. RHCSA and RHCE certifications are a plus. Preferred Skills
BMC Discovery Certification 5+ years in BMC Discovery platform, architecture, and attribute management Regex knowledge for pattern matching Experience with ADDM and CMDB integrations (e.g., Remedy/ServiceNow) Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, Docker, Kubernetes REST API integration experience Seniority level
