Position: Per Diem Housekeeper
Job Summary:
Performs routine housekeeping activities to maintain a clean, safe, and habitable environment according to departmental standards, including cleaning patient rooms after discharge.
Collects and disposes of trash and soiled linens, damp-wipes waste baskets and linen hampers, and performs high dusting to remove dirt and dust from vents, bed lights, televisions, high ledges, and other elevated areas.
Sanitizes bathrooms using appropriate chemicals and equipment, restocks supplies, replaces shower curtains, spot cleans soiled areas, and applies sanitary strips to toilet seats.
Damp-wipes telephones, cords, bedside tables, furniture, doorknobs, light switches, and other surfaces daily; spot cleans walls and windows as needed; strips and remakes beds upon patient discharge; cleans ceilings, walls, and bathroom tiles periodically; handles hazardous spills appropriately.
Maintains cleanliness of floors through dry mopping and wet mopping; prepares cleaning solutions; may strip and refinish floors, buff, or shampoo carpets as assigned.
Organizes housekeeping supplies and ensures equipment is in working order, including cleaning and restocking carts, changing vacuum bags, and maintaining safety protocols.
Uses personal protective equipment appropriately, recognizes hazardous situations, and responds accordingly.
Provides courteous service to patients, visitors, and staff, acting as a customer service representative; recognizes patient needs and calls for clinical assistance when necessary; leaves welcoming cards after room cleaning.
May assist in moving and discarding heavy furniture as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred, physical strength and stamina, on-the-job training, effective communication skills, problem-solving ability, and teamwork skills.
Work Details:
Onsite at 2014 Washington Street, scheduled weekly hours, per diem employment, day shift, pay range $17.36 - $21.09/hour.
