Overview

Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic I specialized in Egress and/or Environmental Control Systems for NAS Whidbey Island. Experience with F/A-18E/F and/or EA-18G is required. The role involves performing a combination of engine, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance to support assigned missions. Responsibilities

Make repairs to aircraft and follow direction of higher graded workers. Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures and functional components, including rigging and plumbing/hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, and standard equipment. Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, and engineering data to determine repair or replacement feasibility and method. Replace or repair worn components such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls/pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes; disassemble and inspect parts for wear or defects. Inspect and service electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories; perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight inspections; service engines and airframe components at line stations. Coordinate jacking and towing of aircraft; document work in maintenance records and verify satisfactory completion. Maintain FAA licensing where required; may require specialization in sheet metal, electric work, avionics, or other related disciplines. Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required

High School diploma or equivalent preferred; three (3) years of related experience required. Three (3) years of F/A-18E/F or EA-18G experience. Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions and perform complex Organizational Level maintenance actions in support of the EA-18G aircraft. Ability to inspect all aircraft assigned, certify Aircraft/Engine Logbook entries, and hold one or more of the following specialties: propulsion/engine and fuel systems; airframe/structural, landing gear, hydraulic/pneumatic, and mechanical flight control systems; egress and/or environmental control systems (ECS) (F/A-18E/F and/or EA-18G experience required); aviation life support systems; avionics/communications/navigation/electronic/CMR/radar and weapon control systems (EA-18G experience required); power distribution/electrical power; instruments; automatic flight control and lighting systems; aircraft armament; corrosion/paint and finish. Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications; strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to pass and maintain a security clearance and meet physical and medical requirements; ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization at this location. Position may require travel. Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $42.21 per hour (hourly rate set by the Collective Bargaining Agreement). Future increases anticipated: around $43.79 on 1/1/2026 and $45.10 on 1/1/2027. Benefits include: Employer-paid benefits up to $8.05 per hour for medical, dental, AD&D insurance, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, employee assistance program, and short-term disability. Paid vacation with annual accruals: 144 hours (0–5 years), 184 hours (5–10 years), 224 hours (10–15 years), 264 hours (15–20 years), 272 hours (>20 years). Pension and 401(k). 11 paid holidays annually (prorated based on hire date). Other Responsibilities
