Power Engineer

Overview Program, configure, and troubleshoot SEL and/or GE protective relays used in transmission, distribution, or industrial power systems. Develop, implement, and validate protection and control schemes for substations, generators, transformers, feeders, and other critical infrastructure. Perform relay coordination studies, settings calculations, and logic development (e.g., SELogic, FlexLogic). Review and interpret single-line diagrams, protection one-lines, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Collaborate with electrical design teams to integrate protection systems into overall power system designs. Support commissioning and field testing of relays and protection systems using tools such as RTDS, Doble, or Omicron test sets. Document relay settings, logic files, and test reports for QA and compliance purposes. Ensure compliance with industry standards such as IEEE, NERC, and utility-specific guidelines.

Qualifications

Experience in protection and control engineering, with direct relay programming experience (SEL and/or GE). Proficiency in SEL software tools (e.g., ACSELerator QuickSet, RTAC) and/or GE tools (e.g., EnerVista suite).

Strong understanding of protective relaying principles, fault analysis, and power system operation.

Experience with relay testing and commissioning protocols. Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., IEEE C37, IEC 61850) is a plus. Strong communication and documentation skills.
