Pediatric Heart Station . In this role, the Cardiac Sonographer will perform pediatric transthoracic echocardiography studies and all aspects of echocardiographic imaging under the supervision of a supervisor or medical director. The University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital echocardiography team performs various procedures, including transthoracic, fetal, and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). Comer Children's pediatric lab is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Pediatric, Fetal, and Transesophageal Echocardiograms. Cardiac Sonographer Job Functions Prepare patients and perform transthoracic echo procedures. Review indications, compare with previous studies, and accurately address questions from referring physicians. Communicate respectfully and compassionately with patients, colleagues, and staff. Use Intellispace Cardiovascular (ISCV) and EPIC systems to record, charge, and report procedures. Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Completion of clinical hours at an accredited lab. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Obtain Pediatric registry status within one year via CCI or ARDMS. Preferred Qualifications Two years of clinical experience outside of school hours in cardiac sonography. ARDMS or CCI accreditation and passing boards. Ability to perform comprehensive examinations independently. Basic computer skills, including working with the IntelliSpace system. RDCS (ARDMS) (PE) and RCS (CCI) (congenital echo) certifications. Position Details Job Type/FTE: Full-Time, 1.0 FTE Shift: Nights with flexible hours Location: Onsite at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit CBA Code: Non-Union This position generally involves working approximately 10 hours per week, mainly day shifts from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, with scheduled on-call shifts. Work location is primarily at the Hyde Park campus, with scheduling varying between Monday to Friday and one weekend shift every six weeks.
