The Department of Surgery at The University of North Carolina is seeking a Pediatric Surgeon. The Division of Pediatric Surgery comprises 4 faculty members offering comprehensive clinical services to pediatric patients. The appointment may be at open rank and offered as either fixed term track or tenure/tenure‑track. This role combines clinical practice and research with educational responsibilities.

Responsibilities and Expectations

Provide high-quality clinical care to pediatric patients within UNC’s Division of Pediatric Surgery. Engage in education of medical students and residents and participate in outreach to rural referring hospitals. Pursue a broad range of research interests (clinical outcomes, health services, basic science, translational, ethics, education, or global surgery). Collaborate within the Department of Surgery and UNC Health System to advance clinical and research missions.

Position Summary

The Department of Surgery is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Pediatric Surgeon. The Division includes 4 faculty members with a broad range of clinical services. The candidate should demonstrate excellence in clinical practice, education, and research, and be able to work collegially in a diverse environment. Appointment type may be at 0.5 to 1.0 FTE with potential for fixed term or tenure/tenure-track arrangements. The faculty member will perform clinical and research duties and fulfill academic responsibilities of an educational institution.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Surgery with Pediatric Certification. Current North Carolina Medical License or eligible for licensure. Ability to work cooperatively in a diverse environment and promote teamwork and learning.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Excellence across clinical, educational and research missions, demonstrated by experience, outcomes and references.
