Overview
Inova Fairfax Medical Campus - Schar Heart and Vascular is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Cardiac Telemetry Unit North team. This is a full-time role with day & night rotations: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.; holiday (1 major + 1 minor per year) and weekend (every 3rd weekend) rotations. Responsibilities
Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.
Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends to achieve best practices.
Delivers patient and family-centered care, integrating knowledge, skills and experience to meet needs throughout the continuum of care.
Advocates for patients' rights and provides guidance while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
Coordinates care with multidisciplinary teams to support patient/family transition planning.
Documents all patient care activities per documentation standards and assists team members with documentation.
Evaluates processes to achieve outcomes, anticipates variances, and revises plans of care as needed.
Makes clinical decisions based on experience and data while supporting the development of clinical decision-making among team members.
Communicates effectively and collaborates with other disciplines with respect for their roles.
Assists staff to assess patients' learning needs and measures outcomes of patient education.
Provides direction and guidance as a clinical resource, preceptor, and mentor; delegates patient care activities and coordinates unit activities as needed.
Uses standards, guidelines and pathways for care delivery; ensures care delivery is synthesized from patient/family communication, technology and team collaboration.
Demonstrates self-development by obtaining continuing education and maintaining own record.
Evaluates clinical and quality outcomes and contributes to performance improvement initiatives.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
BSN or ADN. If RN has an ADN, within 2 years from date of hire, follow the required plan to complete a BSN within 5 years.
Experience:
1 year of RN experience in Critical Care units or a critical care setting, or completion of a critical care fellowship.
Certification:
BLS & ACLS from American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or active multi-state RN license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of Cardiac experience.
