Overview

Pharmacy Clinical Specialist - Critical Care at Cleveland Clinic. This role involves working on the Pharmacy Critical Care team across medical, surgical, cardiac and neurological multidisciplinary services, with opportunities to engage in rounds, order verification, education, research and quality work. Responsibilities

Routinely and continually provide pharmaceutical care for patients, considering their age and clinical condition. Provide general and patient-specific drug information to patients, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals. Support Clinical Pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by direct interaction and formal educational programs. Maintain expertise in areas of practice through continual learning, journal review and other educational activities. Educate Clinical Pharmacists, Technicians, Pharmacy Students, Post-Graduate Trainees and other caregivers in Pharmacotherapy within the specialty area. Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

PharmD or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible within 90 days of hire Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire (if administering immunizations) Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 2 Residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY-1) and two years of experience as a Clinical Specialist or an equivalent role, including providing pharmaceutical care and pharmacotherapeutic monitoring for at least 50% of time in the specialty area OR four years of experience as a Clinical Specialist or an equivalent role, including providing pharmaceutical care and pharmacotherapeutic monitoring for at least 50% of time in the specialty area Preferred qualifications

Board certification Prior experience working in critical care Work Schedule

A caregiver in this role will work 7:00am to 3:30pm and 12:30pm-9:00pm. Requirements include every 8th weekend, 1 holiday per year and on-call about 4-6 times per year. Physical Requirements

Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting. Must have normal or corrected vision. Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person Personal Protective Equipment
