Overview

Assistant Professor of Biology – Location: Walla Walla, WA. Open Date: Aug 04, 2025. The Department of Biology seeks applicants for a tenure-track position beginning August 2026, with expertise in animal/human physiology, including teaching in both laboratory and classroom contexts. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in biology or a related field by the time of appointment. Responsibilities

Teach a 5-course annual load including Human Anatomy & Physiology with lab and thesis mentoring. Contribute to the introductory biology series and rotating course offerings such as Physiology with lab and electives in the candidate’s area of specialty. Develop and sustain an active research program that includes Whitman student researchers. Engage in activities that support general education offerings and departmental goals.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in biology or a related field by the time of appointment. Expertise in animal/human physiology with ability to teach in both laboratory and classroom settings. Potential to sustain an active undergraduate research program and contribute to faculty governance, mentorship, or service as appropriate.

Compensation and Benefits
