We are seeking a highly skilled
Electrical Design Engineer
with additional responsibilities as a
Facility Security Officer (FSO)
for our aerospace and defense operations. This unique dual-role position will dedicate
80% of time to electrical design engineering
and
20% to FSO duties . The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience in circuit board-level design for defense applications, while also supporting the company’s security compliance program in accordance with DoD and NISPOM requirements. Prior experience as an FSO is
not required ; full training will be provided. Bascom Hunter’s Defense Electronics division supports critical defense applications through innovations in Advanced Systems, RF Front Ends, Mixed Signal Products and Digital Solutions. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Design Engineering (80%) Design, develop, and test complex electronic circuits and circuit boards for aerospace and defense applications. Utilize
Altium Designer
(schematic capture and PCB layout) for board-level design, with a focus on reliability, manufacturability, and compliance with military/aerospace standards. Perform schematic design, component selection, and simulation of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits. Collaborate with mechanical, RF, and systems engineering teams to integrate electronics into larger subsystems and platforms. Conduct design reviews, troubleshoot prototypes, and support transition to production. Generate and maintain detailed technical documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and test procedures. Facility Security Officer (20%) Serve as the location’s FSO under the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). Manage day-to-day compliance with DoD security requirements (training will be provided). Oversee personnel clearance processing, visit requests, and classified information handling. Maintain security records and support inspections and audits by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). Develop and deliver periodic security briefings and awareness programs for employees. Coordinate with senior leadership to ensure compliance with all relevant DoD directives, NISPOM, and CMMC/NIST 800-171 standards. Qualifications Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical design at the circuit board level. Strong knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium experience preferred). Familiarity with design considerations for aerospace and defense electronics. Active DoD Security Clearance required (Secret or higher). No prior FSO experience required; training will be provided. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary engineering and security environment.
