Overview

Senior Electrical Engineer Location: Nationwide Power Engineers, member of WSP, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Government Services Division. This role involves engineering design projects in the Government market, including power delivery, power generation, power distribution, backup power, UPS, system studies, renewable energy, MEP design, and related projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, mentoring, communication and presentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. The applicant will interface directly with internal and external clients and drive projects to successful completion within budget and schedule constraints. The department is growing, and the role includes developing a sustainable electrical department with staff at all experience levels. The candidate should be able to work with other discipline leads, PMs, and team members to coordinate a project while supporting other disciplines. Disclaimer: The candidate selected for this position may work remotely full-time at a location other than a POWER-designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.

Responsibilities

Create and issue construction drawings and specifications, studies, and reports. Apply sound design knowledge of grounding, lightning protection, surge protection, lighting, protective relaying, prime and standby generation, low and medium voltage switchgear, medium voltage substations, and UPS systems. Demonstrate knowledge of NEC, NFPA standards, ICC standards, UFC documents, energy codes, and applicable IEEE standards. Model electrical systems and run power system studies using ETAP, PTW, or EasyPower (strongly preferred). Lead electrical efforts on projects, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with other discipline leads, PMs, and clients. Self-perform all electrical engineering tasks including proposal, design, calculations, cost estimating, client reviews, and construction support. Manage project scope, schedule, and budget; ensure timely delivery within client expectations. Communicate effectively, travel domestically and internationally as needed, and work in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university Professional Engineering License with the ability to be licensed in multiple states Knowledge and experience with federal government projects Knowledge and direct application of UFC, UFGS, NEC, and ICC standards 15+ years of applicable experience in design and specification of low and medium-voltage power distribution and lighting systems for federal and industrial buildings Specific knowledge of switchgear and substation design Ability to self-perform all electrical engineering tasks and coordinate with other disciplines Ability to mentor junior or mid-level electrical engineers and designers Strong prioritization, deadline management, and adaptability skills Excellent oral and written communication skills; willingness to travel domestically and internationally U.S. Citizenship Desired Education/Experience

Experience designing to NAVFAC and USACE design standards SpecsIntact specification authoring/editing experience Ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance Experience with mission-critical infrastructure projects Solid CAD/BIM experience (AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation)

Compensation & Benefits
