Senior Cost Engineer / Electrical Estimator
to join our headquarters team in Tysons, VA. The role involves working on electrical construction projects from bid and proposal through construction, ensuring compliance with standards, specifications, and budgets. Responsibilities:
Develop budgets and cost codes; assist in technical proposals, including scope of work, management plans, work sequence, safety, quality control, and commissioning. Gather data for bid proposals and design/build proposals. Present clear project scopes to customers and meet potential clients to discuss proposals. Manage day-to-day project operations or subsections. Create project schedules using the Critical Path Method; assign costs and manpower for forecasting. Interpret plans and specifications to determine materials and ensure compliance. Perform take-offs from drawings; price change orders. Maintain current pricing information from suppliers and contractors. Identify value-added solutions and cost-saving methods. Establish labor and productivity rates. Manage change orders, including pricing and tracking. Coordinate project logs, schedules, and design development logs. Assist in field inspections and productivity tracking. Qualifications:
Education: 3+ years with a Master's degree. 5+ years with a B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management. 8+ years with an associate degree. 10+ years with a High School diploma or GED. Requirements: Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD; experience with estimating, project management, and scheduling software. Experience reading blueprints and understanding design principles, codes, and standards. Knowledge of electrical equipment, materials, and specifications. Experience with contract documents and technical writing. Ability to plan and organize activities effectively. 2-3 years of experience in the communications field, with electrical experience preferred. Must pass a background check. Desired Skills: Local candidates preferred. Experience with MS Project, P6, and Accubid is a plus. LEED, DBIA certifications, Journeyman Electrician License, E, or EIT License are desirable. Abilities: Ability to work with extended computer screen exposure. Sitting for long periods. Reach and finger dexterity for manipulating objects and using a keyboard. Effective listening, speaking, reading, and comprehension skills. Apply rules to solve specific problems. Understand and interpret speech and written information.
