Senior Cost Engineer / Electrical Estimator
to join our headquarters team in Aldie, VA. The role involves working on electrical construction projects from bidding and proposals through construction, ensuring compliance with standards, specifications, and budgets. Responsibilities: Develop budgets and cost codes; assist in preparing technical proposals, including scope of work, management plans, work sequence, safety, quality control, and commissioning. Gather data and assist in bid proposal estimates and design/build proposals. Develop and present project scopes to customers and meet with potential clients to present proposals. Manage day-to-day operations of a project or project subsection. Create project schedules using the Critical Path Method; assign costs and manpower for forecasting. Review plans and specifications to determine material and equipment needs and ensure compliance. Perform take-offs from drawings and price change orders. Apply cost fundamentals; maintain current pricing information from suppliers and contractors. Identify value-added solutions and cost-saving methods. Establish labor and productivity rates. Manage change orders, including pricing and resolution. Coordinate project logs, schedules, design development, and compliance matrices. Assist in field inspections and productivity tracking. Education: 3+ years of experience with a Master's degree. 5+ years with a B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management. 8+ years with an Associate's degree. 10+ years with a High School diploma or GED. Requirements: Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD; experience with estimating, project management, and scheduling software. Experience reading blueprints and understanding design principles, codes, and safety standards. Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials, specifications, and contract documents. Experience in technical writing and effective planning and organization. Ability to pass a background check. Desired Skills: Local candidates preferred. Experience with MS Project, P6, and Accubid preferred. LEED certification, DBIA membership, Journeyman Electrician License, E License, or EIT License are advantageous. Abilities: Extended screen time and sitting. Reach, finger dexterity, listening, speaking, reading, and problem-solving skills.
