Senior Cost Engineer - Reporting and Forecasting
for a federal construction project related to complex rail, transit, and other transportation projects in NY & NJ. If selected, candidates must provide digital proof of certifications and qualifications before the interview. The ideal candidate has
10 years of full-time experience
managing cost on large-scale infrastructure and transit projects, as well as a
Bachelor's Degree
from an accredited college or university with a major in Construction, Engineering, or a related field. This position will be full-time, on-site. Candidates are expected to live in or near the
New York metropolitan
area. Roles and Responsibilities Verify contractor invoices for accuracy and compliance. Track and analyze project costs, comparing budgeted costs to actual expenditures and earned values. Generate detailed monthly reports for upper management and stakeholders, highlighting cost variances, performance indices, and forecasts. Use tools like Power BI and Excel to visualize data and ensure that it accurately reflects the project's financial health. Input and manage cost-related data in PMIS platforms like E-builder, Unifier, or Kahua. Maintain data accuracy and consistency across systems, understanding system structures, workflows, and data dependencies. Oversee data imports and exports between PMIS and other data management tools like Access and Excel. Work closely with project managers to establish and manage the project budget, tracking expenditures and adjusting forecasts as needed. Monitor budget trends and analyze expenditures against the forecast to identify potential risks or opportunities. Act as the primary point of contact for cost-related inquiries, ensuring clear and concise communication with various project stakeholders. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Engineering, or related required, advanced degree is a plus. Minimum of
10 years
of experience managing cost on large-scale infrastructure and transit projects. Certified Cost Engineer (CCE)
preferred Proficient in eBuilder, Oracle Unifier, and similar PMIS tools. Strong data management skills, with expertise in PowerBI, Access, Excel, and database structures. Prior experience with rail, tunnel, structural, station, or soil is preferred. Ability to pass a TWIC and/or SWAC Background Check at High Level. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
