Principal Air Force Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer to join our team at Edwards Air Force Base, CA. This critical role supports the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), which is a high-fidelity virtual environment used for man in the loop mission simulation. The JSE is used for high-end pilot training and test in support of acquisition decisions for a variety of new and existing platforms. Roles & Responsibilities: V&V Expertise & Strategy: Ensure the fidelity and realism of the virtual environment, aircraft platforms and mission systems within the JSE through continuous, rigorous test. Test Design & Execution: Write V&V test plans, generating detailed test cards/test procedures, and provide detailed inputs to Operations Engineers for execution planning and scenario development. Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, organize, and document test results. Identify, document, and track observed discrepancies/defects. Technical Guidance & Collaboration: Rapidly assimilate system-under-test and JSE SME level system knowledge. Represent the V&V function by providing engineering support for system requirement reviews, preliminary/critical design reviews, and other programmatic reviews. Flexibility & Adaptability: Maintain a willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of customers’ requirements and needs. Qualifications & Education: Minimum of 8+ years executing V&V related activities within a research, development, or test environment. Demonstrated experience in the development and application of test measures and advanced test techniques relevant to simulation and software-intensive environments. Thorough working knowledge and practical experience with DoD Test and Evaluation processes within major acquisition programs. Experience writing test plans, generating test cards based on test plans, and briefing and executing test cards. Experience participating in V&V test activities in software intensive or simulation environments. Proficiency with common V&V Software tools, including Python and MATLAB Ability to coordinate across multiple teams and organizations Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as persuasion skills to advocate for various stakeholder needs Desired Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in flight test as a discipline engineer or test conductor Experience using Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) or Digital Integrated Air Defense System (DIADS) simulator software. Exposure to Modeling & Simulation concepts & Standards (e.g., JSE Framework, AFSIM). Familiarity with requirements management software (DOORS, Jama), Test Management, and Defect Tracking (JIRA). Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical), Computer Science, or other science-based curriculum from an ABET accredited program required Master’s degree in an Engineering or related field is preferred. Clearance Requirements: Active SECRET clearance is required Active TOP SECRET clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility and is highly desired Candidate must maintain a TS/SCI with Special Access Program (SAP) access clearance as a condition of employment Travel: Up to 20% travel may be required to support customer testing events or related activities.
