Senior Civil Engineer

opportunity in Charlotte, North Carolina, with consideration for

Greensboro, NC . This role supports WSP’s Civil Design service line for power, industrial, and municipal clients across the southeast. The successful candidate will interact with clients, provide team leadership, and apply technical knowledge across a breadth of civil projects, including erosion and sediment control, SPCC planning, hydraulics and hydrology design, civil grading, and landfill design and closure. The position offers oversight and leadership to small to medium project design teams and requires juggling multiple projects and priorities. Responsibilities include execution of calculations, design options, reports, agency reviews, and construction drawings, with a focus on fostering long‑lasting client relationships. Your Impact

Manage and direct small to medium project design teams Prepare scope of work and costing documents for proposals Coordinate with senior engineering staff, lead junior team members and project stakeholders, and collaborate with other disciplines to manage project execution Perform professional civil engineering work including erosion and sediment control design compliant with state requirements, SPCC plans, site grading using AutoCAD Civil3D, hydraulic systems, hydrologic analyses, and stormwater management facilities Prepare permit applications and respond to agency (owner) comments in design Prepare construction drawings and specifications to implement designs Prepare client-ready reports and drawings Evaluate design options and assess cost/benefit of solutions Train and mentor junior staff Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements Who You Are

Required Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Professional Engineer registration in North Carolina, or ability to obtain within one year 5–7 years of professional engineering experience Valid state driver’s license and ability to pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening Willingness to travel to project sites and business meetings as required Project management experience and team leadership skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and Civil design software tools Strong ability to perform technical calculations and interpret plans and specifications in accordance with regulations Independent worker who can guide junior team members with strict QA/QC adherence Excellent leadership, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment Ability to coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management, clients, regulators, and staff Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP health, safety, and harassment policies Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and hours to meet business needs Preferred Qualifications
