WSP is seeking a
Lead Civil Engineer
for our Charlotte, North Carolina office, supporting our Civil Design service line that serves power, industrial, and municipal clients across the southeast. Other considered locations include Asheville, NC, and Greensboro, NC.
The role requires client interaction, team leadership, and technical expertise. The candidate will work on civil projects such as erosion and sediment control, spill prevention (SPCC), hydraulics and hydrology design, civil grading, and landfill projects. Responsibilities include calculations, design, reports, agency reviews, and construction drawings, with an emphasis on client relationship building.
Key Responsibilities
Manage small to medium project design teams
Prepare scope of work and cost proposals
Coordinate with project stakeholders and team members
Perform civil engineering work including erosion control, SPCC plans, site grading, hydraulics, hydrologic analyses, and stormwater management
Prepare permits and respond to agency comments
Develop construction drawings and specifications
Generate reports and evaluate design options
Mentor junior staff
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Civil3D
Travel as required
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering
PE license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within a year
7-10 years of experience
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
Project management and leadership skills
Proficiency in engineering calculations and software
Strong communication and leadership abilities
Ability to work independently and in teams
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
