Position Description Sr. Engineer Actuators Department : SCD – Engineering Type Of Position : Exempt Reports To : Engineering Manager - Actuators Number Of Direct Reports : 0 At Stoneridge, we’re revolutionizing the automotive, commercial vehicle, agriculture and off-highway industries. This position, senior engineer – actuators, fills a key role in our global engineering organization, supporting the growth and maintenance of our global actuators product line. The role allows the ideal candidate to exercise expertise in electrical, mechanical and software development for electro-mechanical actuators. Responsibilities
Customer and market interactions which enable Stoneridge to be recognized as a world class supplier of actuators for the transportation industry. Analysis of system requirements for the application under investigation. Consuming, updating, and establishing design standards for actuators. The creation of simulation and validation strategies for actuators. New business quoting activities for actuators. Creation and execution of VAVE projects focused on Stoneridge’s actuator portfolio. Major Responsibilities
Developing unique solutions for new actuator applications including concept development, system requirements definition, packaging studies, and BOM estimates. Participate and lead customer discussions. Develop intellectual property that leads to the recognition of Stoneridge as a world class provider in electro-mechanical actuators. Creation of product development schedules and costs for new applications. Execute new product launch programs aligned with the Stoneridge Product Launch Process. Identification of new VAVE projects. Leadership and execution of targeted Material Cost Improvement Projects. Identification and execution of product design updates focused on warranty reduction of existing product applications. Qualifications
BS in an engineering discipline is required Experience in intellectual property development as evidenced by patents and publications Significant experience designing and developing electro-mechanical products. At least 10 years of experience of product development and launch of electromechanical systems. Knowledge of appropriate laboratory tools for performing product analysis and testing. Must be self-motivated, a fast learner, and a strong problem solver. Innovative spirit and collaborative team member. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Available for travel as required to meet Stoneridge objectives.
