Overhead Transmission Engineer
for a full-time opportunity in Atlanta, GA.
Responsibilities
Perform, lead, and oversee all engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design. This includes PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis and loading trees, developing design criteria, sag-tension calculations, wire blowout, swing angle, damper recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, wire selection, etc.
Prepare specifications for construction, hardware, and material for high voltage overhead transmission lines; structure design and development; hardware design and selection; and field installation supervision.
Prepare construction drawings and cost estimates for high voltage overhead transmission lines.
Provide instruction and guidance to less experienced staff members. May develop into a leadership role, with the expectation to lead teams of engineers and perform quality reviews as a technical lead on projects.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited program. A professional certification (EIT) and/or professional engineer licensure is strongly desired.
Minimum 3 years of related experience with routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilities (master's degree in related field may substitute for one year of experience).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
Experience in 69kV to 500kV line design and working knowledge of Power Line system programs (e.g., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE) preferred.
Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
