Overview
At PD&B, we build incredible custom machines from the ground up.
Our machines are tailored to meet the unique needs of clients across a wide range of industries—including aluminum extrusion (HVAC and automotive), chemical processing, garage door manufacturing, electric vehicles (EV), and corrugated cardboard production.
We serve global manufacturers and maintain strong partnerships with locally owned companies. Our fully integrated facility houses mechanical and electrical engineers, machinists, welders, electricians, and assembly technicians—all working collaboratively under one roof to bring innovative equipment to life.
This is a hands-on, full-cycle engineering role where you\'ll be involved in every stage of machine development—from initial concept sketches to final installation. As a Senior Machine Design Engineer, you’ll lead mechanical design efforts using Autodesk Inventor, collaborate across disciplines, and ensure that each machine performs flawlessly on the shop floor and at the customer site.
Responsibilities
Concept Development:
Participate in ideation meetings to brainstorm and sketch out machine concepts.
Mechanical Design:
Lead the design of complete mechanical assemblies, integrating robotics, servos, and motion control systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with electrical engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
BOM & ERP Integration:
Generate detailed Bills of Materials and coordinate with Procurement to integrate designs into our ERP system (Counterpart).
Debug & Testing:
Partner with controls engineers during machine debug and testing phases to resolve issues and optimize performance.
Project Quoting:
Support quoting efforts by providing design input and feasibility assessments.
Build Oversight:
Periodically oversee mechanical builds to ensure alignment with design intent.
Startup & Commissioning:
Ensure mechanical systems operate as designed during startup, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), and pre-shipment evaluations.
Customer Support:
Provide technical assistance to legacy customers for service inquiries beyond Procurement’s scope.
Qualifications
Proven experience in mechanical design for custom automation or industrial machinery
Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (or similar CAD software)
Strong understanding of motion systems, robotics, and mechanical integration
Ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines
Experience with ERP systems and BOM management
Hands-on approach to problem-solving and machine debugging
