Overview
Coffman Engineers is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer with six or more years of working experience to join our Denver Fire Protection Engineering department. Coffman Engineers serves as both prime consultant and sub consultant on projects across commercial, retail, institutional, government, industrial, and project/construction management. We have employees in more than 24 locations serving clients across the United States and overseas. We build teams with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and corrosion control, as well as project/construction managers and professionals in various specialty services.

Responsibilities
Perform fire protection engineering design, analysis, and review across projects.
Conduct fire and life safety code analysis, egress analysis, and fire resistant rated construction analysis.
Design and analyze automatic suppression systems, fire detection and alarm systems, and mass notification where applicable.
Perform smoke control design and participate in special inspections; develop fire protection and life safety concepts.
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver comprehensive engineering solutions that enhance safety and meet client objectives.
Qualifications
Requirements Include:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Sciences, or a degree in another engineering field with fire protection experience.
Six (6) or more years of experience in fire protection engineering or the consulting profession.
PE license or ability to obtain PE within 2 years; NICET level III/IV also considered.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including oral presentation skills.
Ability to work on a highly-motivated team with a passion for expanding knowledge and skills.
Desired Skills and Duties
Intermediate computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets, basic graphics).
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and fire protection software packages (e.g., CONTAM, FDS).
Strong writing and technical report writing abilities.
Experience managing internal projects and external client needs; effective client communication.
Participation in local/national professional organizations (e.g., SFPE, NFPA).
Peer reviews of colleagues’ work, developing an area of expertise within fire protection engineering.
Perform building and fire code analysis, performance-based designs, and fire hazards analysis.
Develop engineering judgments for code alternatives and analyze existing/new fire protection systems.
Research and documentation for internal and external distribution.
Compensation and Benefits This position is not eligible for sponsorship. The expected salary for this position is $95,000 - $115,000 annually. Coffman offers a comprehensive benefits package, flexible PTO, and a professional office environment with opportunities for advancement.
